It was in 1609 when a group of Dutch sailors discovered this particular state while they sail the ocean. Henry Hudson led the group and in 1610, Virginia-native Captain Samuel Argall named it Delaware as part of his governor’s colony – Sir Thomas West, Baron De La Warr back then.
